AI, Digital Futures, and the Human Condition
The St Xaviers University Kolkata Journal of Interdisciplinary Research, Volume 4 (2026) invites submissions examining how artificial intelligence and other emerging digital technologies are transforming law, rights, education, authorship, and knowledge systems. As digital technologies increasingly mediate how we learn, produce, regulate, and relate, this issue seeks critically engaged responses to the evolving configurations of agency, governance, labour, creativity, and control.
What frameworks can help us navigate a world where algorithmic systems shape decisions, knowledge, and access? How do we rethink ownership, ethics, and participation in environments structured by automation and data-driven logic? What forms of inequality, resistance, or reimagination emerge as we inhabit increasingly computational worlds?
We welcome interdisciplinary contributions exploring the entanglements of AI and emerging digital technologies with legal regimes, pedagogic change, epistemic infrastructures, religious discourses, and socio-technical imaginaries. Submissions arising from the university’s recent conferences on Digital Humanities and on AI, Human Rights, and IPR are especially encouraged.
